Registration Problems with the World Yo-Yo Contest

We have had some issues with some people registering with the World Yo-Yo Contest. Some people registering two or more attendees are getting a page not found error. We've been trying to track down the problem. The issue seems to stem from the way some browsers pass data back to us. The result is that some people will have trouble registering more than one person at a time. If you are one of these people, please register one person, then register another one. We are sorry for this inconvenience. We hope to have this issue fixed shortly with the help of the people who wrote this software.

WYYC update: Deadline for hotel reservations

Just a quick note, The discount room block for hotel rooms at the Rosen Plaza hotel for the World Yo-Yo Contest is almost full. The hotel is full except for this block of rooms. After July 11th any unbooked rooms in our block will be released and while you can still get the discounted room rate, there is no guarantee that there will be rooms to be had. Remember; you will not be charged for a hotel room until you show up, and if you cancel with 48 hours warning you will not be charged. If you think you are coming, do register for a hotel room with the Rosen.

Seed Preliminary Division

New seeding rules for the 2012 World Yo-Yo Contest:

Only the five reigning World Champions from 2011 are automatically seeded into their respective final.

Depending on the number of National Champions that show up to compete in a division, a “National Champions Qualifying Round” may be held.

This change is necessary in order to assure that the best unseeded players have a fair chance to advance to the finals and in order to limit the number of finalists in 1A to no more than 20 and in 2A-5A to no more than 10.

Prices for the World Yo-Yo Contest were to go up on December 31st, but do to an error that was preventing people outside the USA from setting the correct country, we have extended current prices until January 3rd.

The error is now fixed.

Hotel Registration Started

If you check on the top menu, we've just added a link to allow you to register hotel rooms for worlds. Remember they don't charge you card until about a week before you arrive, so if you reserve now, you won't be charged July.

This is just a quick note to say that registration is open now for the 2011 World Yo-Yo Contest and our new site is up. Please check for updates at http://www.worldyoyocontest.com.

Some things to note:
Event registration has started, The best price to attend worlds is available right now. Due to many requests we got this up early so that you can give or get given admission to the World Yo-Yo Contest for the holidays. To this end, if you register before December 31st admission will be less than last years admission.

Hotel registration has not started yet, but will soon.

Welcome to the 2011 World Yo-Yo contest.
It will take place on August 4th, 5th and 6th, 2011 in the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando Florida. Registration will open soon.
