2005 World Yo-Yo Counter Weight division (CW-5A) Yo-Yo is not attached to
the hand.
Read trick descriptions carefully. All tricks are to be performed as
described in the text and accompanying video (if available). Significant loss
of control of the yo-yo will not be allowed. This round allows one attempt
of each trick for five points, a second attempt (if necessary) for three
points. Your compulsory score is the total of the points scored on the ten
tricks. Top scoring players advance to the final freestyle.
Please note: Bind returns are allowed for all tricks but not required. [Update] At each trick station all tricks must be performed using the same yo-yo (or same set of yo-yos for 2A &3A). You may change yo-yo(s) between each trick station.
1. 360 360 720: [VIDEO] Throw a trapeze, perform a somersault under your Freehand and release the counterweight allowing the counterweight to travel in one (1) complete circle around the Freehand and catch the counterweight. Throw another somersault under your Freehand releasing the counterweight again allowing the counterweight to travel in one (1) complete a circle around your Freehand, then throw two (2) somersaults under your Freehand releasing the counterweight. Catch the counterweight after it has traveled around your Freehand two (2) times. You should now be in a trapeze. End trick with any dismount. 2. Aerial Combo (Standard, Kung-Fu, and Behind the Back): [VIDEO] Throw a sleeper into a bottom mount, dismount the yo-yo and let go of the counterweight allowing the momentum of the yo-yo to cause one full (1) rotation of string in the air. Catch the string or counterweight with your Throwhand at or near the end of the rotation to complete the first aerial. Go into a bottom mount again. Unwind to release the yo-yo and throw the counterweight allowing one(1) full rotation in the air, catch the yo-yo with the string draped over your shoulder (yo-yo in front, counterweight in back), grab the counterweight with your Freehand under your throw arm, toss the yo-yo back over your shoulder as you pull the counterweight free, transfer the yo-yo to your original Throwhand. As the yo-yo rotates around, let go of the counterweight allowing the momentum of the yo-yo to cause one full (1) rotation of string in the air. Catch the string or counterweight with your behind your back at or near the end of the rotation. Return the yo-yo to your hand in any way.
3. Freehand Meltdown: [VIDEO] Throw a one and a half mount and remove your Freehand index finger so the entire mount is on your Throwhand. Do a pinwheel to the outside of your body and release the counterweight. As the counterweight rotates around, have the string go through the gap and catch the weight in your Freehand. You will be in a switch trapeze. Dismount the switch trapeze and remount into a standard trapeze. Swing the yo-yo into a trapeze and his brother. Do a pinwheel to the inside of your body. As the counterweight rotates around, again have it thread through the gap and catch the weight in your Freehand. You should be in an over mount. Dismount the yo-yo and remount in a standard trapeze. Return the yo-yo to your hand in any way. 4. Nunchuck Combo (Steve Brown version.): [VIDEO] Throw a sleeper over your Freehand index finger and perform one Pinwheel continuing directly into a -split bottom mount. Drop the string from your Freehand, perform a somersault and release the counterweight allowing the string to unmount from the yo-yo and rotate under and over your Throwhand shoulder. Catch the counterweight with your Freehand in "shoulder hold" Pull the yo-yo over your shoulder allowing it to travel around your shoulder a second time, release the counterweight as the yo-yo travels around, grab the string (not the counterweight) and swing the counterweight around your shoulder back into a second "shoulder hold." Grab the counterweight with your Freehand and pull the yo-yo over one final time, transfer the counterweight to your original Throwhand and return the yo-yo to your hand in any way.
5. Electronic Fan (3 rep from Trapeze): [VIDEO] Throw a trapeze, perform a somersault under your Freehand and release the counterweight allowing it to make one (1) full rotation, catch the string (not the counterweight) after the somersault, reverse the direction of the counterweight's swing, perform three (3) reverse somersaults over your Freehand while swinging the counterweight, in the same direction, ahead of the yo-yo. End trick with any dismount. 6. Beesting (1 rep from Trapeze): [VIDEO] Throw a trapeze, release the counterweight, swinging it under your Freehand allowing it to unmount the yo-yo, as the string comes around the other side throw the yo-yo over your Freehand in the opposite direction onto the string creating a reverse (backspin) mount, catch the counterweight with your Throwhand, allowing yo-yo to continue back into a trapeze mount. End trick with any dismount. 7. One-hand Under Mount: [VIDEO] Throw a sleeper, swing the yo-yo forward and slide your Throwhand away from the counterweight and to the center of the string, allow the counterweight to swing under the yo-yo and mount it on the string as it travels around, catch the counterweight with Throwhand. End trick with any dismount. 8. Wind Mill (3 rep): [VIDEO] Throw a breakaway, intersect the string with your Freehand index finger as in trapeze, as the yo-yo travels around release the counterweight and allow it to trail the path of the yo-yo. Do not allow the yo-yo to mount onto the string. As the counterweight comes around, catch it with your original Throwhand to complete one rep. From the counterweight release complete two more reps. At the end of the third rep allow yo-yo to go into a trapeze mount. End trick with any dismount. 9. Shoulder Pop (from Bottom Mount):: [VIDEO] Throw a split bottom mount, drop the string from your Freehand, throw a somersault and release the counterweight, allowing the string to unmount from the yo-yo as the counterweight swings around. Allow the counterweight to strike near your shoulder causing it to change its rotation direction. As it comes around in the opposite direction allow the string to remount on the yo-yo and catch the counterweight. End trick with any one-hand dismount. 10. Eli Hop Chop (4 chops, Terry version.): [VIDEO] Throw a trapeze, (opening) pop the yo-yo up, release the counterweight, grab the string with your Freehand and perform an undercut (chop) with your original Throwhand and mount the yo-yo in a "switch trapeze", pop the yo-yo up, release the string from your original Freehand, grab the string with your original Throwhand and perform an undercut (chop) with your original Freehand landing the yo-yo in a regular trapeze. Repeat from (opening) and perform two more chops into a second "switch trapeze" and a final regular trapeze for a total of four (4) chops. End trick with any dismount.
