Freestyle Rules for this division are here (updated 7/23/03)

Two Handed (2A)

Read trick descriptions carefully. All tricks are to be performed as described in the text and accompanying video (if available). Significant loss of control of either yo-yo will not be allowed. This round allows one attempt of each trick for five points, a second attempt (if necessary) for three points. Compulsory score is the total of the points scored on the ten tricks. Top scoring players advance to the final freestyle.

1. New - Orbit the Moons (5 reps) [See MPG4 Video]
UPDATE: Trick name changed 5/25/03
Orbit the Moons (5 reps) Start with a forward pass outward toss with each hand and immediately punch each yo-yo into a half revolution of retro-Around the World up into a Reach for the Moon. At the end of the outward toss of the Reach for the Moon punch each yo-yo into another half revolution of retro-Around the World back up into a second Reach for the Moon. Complete 5 reps and catch the yo-yos on the outward toss of the fifth Reach for the Moon. Each hand can perform the reps simultaneously or Alternating.

2.Two Hand Arm Wraps [See MPG4 Video]
Updated 6/14/03(One more "loop wrap" with each hand than last year) Start with three or more reps of two hand loops. Transition one yo-yo into Around the World and wrap around the looping arm on the second World and perform two or more "loop wraps" with the wrap hand going under and over the loops, then transition back into two hand loops and perform three or more reps. Now transition the other yo-yo into Worlds and wrap around the looping arm on the second World and perform two or more "loop wraps" and transition back into two hand loops and perform three or more reps before catching the yo-yos.

3.Wrist-Crossed Fountain [See MPG4 Video]
Updated 6/14/03 (5-5-5-5-5, 2 more reps than last year) Start with hands crossed and perform five or more wrist-crossed Hop the Fences with each hand below 45 degrees from the vertical, followed by a transition to five or more wrist-crossed Punching Bags with each hand between 45-135 degrees from the vertical, followed by a transition to five or more wrist-crossed Vertical Punches. Then punch back down to five or more wrist-crossed Punching Bags with each hand between 45-135 degrees from the vertical, then punch back down to five or more wrist-crossed Hop the Fences below 45 degrees from the vertical and catch the yo-yos while hands are still crossed.

4.Elbow Wraps [See MPG4 Video]
Updated 6/14/03 (This year the Vertical Punches are performed cross-handed) Start with three or more reps of two hand loops, with both hands regenerate into Around the Worlds, on the second world with each hand wrap both elbows, and turn 180 degrees while transitioning immediately up into five or more reps of cross-handed Vertical Punches.
5.Inside/Outside Vertical Punches (15 reps), [See MPG4 Video]
UPDATED 5/25/03
(15 reps, 3 more than last year) - You must start by throwing the yo-yos directly upward. As the yo-yos come down perform an Inside Vertical Punch with each hand. Note that you do not have the option of beginning this trick with a Forward Pass/Reach for the Moon motion. Therefore, after the initial vertical tosses, the first Vertical Punch with each hand must be an Inside Vertical Punch and the second Vertical Punch with each hand must be an Outside Vertical Punch. In other words, you must start alternating Vertical Punches immediately and perform at least fifteen reps with each hand. Each rep consists of one Inside Vertical Punch and one Outside Vertical Punch with each hand. At no time, including during extra reps or during the ending, may you do two or more consecutive Inside or Outside Vertical Punches with the same hand. The count will start on the second hand performing the first Outside Punch. All punches must be no more than 30 degrees from vertical.
6.Double Staircase [See MPG4 Video]
This trick consists of two complete Staircases, one to the left and one to the right, performed in order of choice. Trick starts with Milk the Cow in front or to one side and works it's way up to Vertical Punches while the player rotates 360 degrees into three or more reps of Vertical Punches after both feet are planted, then punch down into Milk the Cow and perform the same trick in the opposite direction ending with three or more reps of Vertical Punches. In other words, the player starts facing forward, and ends up facing forward after two complete revolutions, one in each direction. After both feet are planted, perform three or more reps of Vertical Punches and catch both yo-yos.

7.Combined Inside/Outside Reach for the Moons (15 reps) [See MPG4 Video]
(15 reps, 3 more than last year) Starting with the first rep, the yo-yos must alternate from the inside of each throw hand on the upward vertical tosses to the outside of each throw hand on the downward trajectory. As the yo-yo descends it is thrown out and upward with an outside loop to complete the first rep. As the yo-yo returns a second inside upward toss is made as in a standard Reach for the Moon and again as the yo-yo descends it is thrown out and upward with an outside loop to complete the second rep. The count will start on the second hand performing the first outside loop.

8.Behind the Back Cattle Crossing (20 reps) [See MPG4 Video]
(Combined tiebreaker, 20 reps) - The Yo-Yo trajectories must cross on the first throw of each hand and must stayed crossed for all twenty or more reps. The count starts on the first throw of the second yo-yo as it crosses the trajectory of the first yo-yo. Complete 20 or more reps on first try for 5 points, continue until you miss for use as first tiebreaker. Complete 20 or more reps on second try for 3 points, continue until you miss for use as second tiebreaker. Each contestant will try this trick two times.

9.Cow Wrap Combo [See MPG4 Video]
Start with Hop the Fence with one hand, and then throw a retro Around the World with the other hand.  As you complete the retro Around the World let it wrap over the arm doing Hop the Fence. Complete at least 3 cow wraps around the Hop the Fences.

Your "wrap string" is now in front of the Hop the Fence arm (exactly like when you started the wraps)

Pull the yo-yo over the Hop the Fence arm and transition into loops under the Hop the Fence arm.

Complete 3 or more reps of cross-arm loops and Hop The Fence and catch the yoyos.

10.Kurukuru Pinwheel Wrap [See MPG4 Video]
UPDATE:05/29/03Start with retro Around The Worlds with each hand thrown simultaneously to one side of your body. Let the yo-yo in one hand wrap over the other arm as it completes the first retro World and let it spin (sleep) while it is hanging there.

Let the other yo-yo string wrap around your hand while it performs 3 or 4 retro Worlds.

When you think the string is the right length on that hand grab the other string that is hanging over your other arm and start pin wheeling both yoyos. After 3 or more pinwheels with both yoyos throw retro Worlds to one side with both hands and transition up into Vertical Punches. Perform 5 or more Vertical Punches and catch the yo-yos.

The top 10 placing contestants in this division will compete in a judged freestyle to decide final ranking. The freestyle rules will be posted shortly.
